Next Gen Firewalls provide a strong barrier that sits between your internal network and the outside world.
A firewall is a network security solution which acts as the first line of defense for your network against cyber threats. It’s the barrier that sits between the outside world and your internal network. It inspects all of the traffic as it passes through, opening up data packets to check for (and block) anything malicious – like somebody trying to access the network, or a virus.
We use Layer 7 devices, which means they’re application aware. They can be configured to restrict traffic to a granular level – for example, you can block people from accessing Dropbox, or streaming video on certain sites. Next Gen Firewalls also provide useful business reporting to understand the behaviours of your network (such as utilisation and data usage), see what websites staff members are using heavily, and restrict access to what staff are viewing.
We primarily use WatchGuard and Cisco Meraki firewalls. We take care of all ongoing maintenance – logs are checked, policies are reviewed, and license renewals are taken care of. Our Next Gen Firewalls are available on a subscription model, or can be purchased outright, so the cost can be classified as either capex or opex – whichever suits your business best.
